Who doesn't know Bakerzin? It's the rapidly growing, well-known dessert wonderland! Now, it has opened a new branch at Kota Kasablanka, located at South Jakarta. Bakerzin already has 7 branch before this one, one of them is at Central Park which is the nearest to me.
They've adopted the concept of a glass house for this one, located right in the middle and also a smaller one on the side.
DUCK CONFIT PASTA IDR 95K
Slow cooked duck confit, served on garlic and chili pasta
Duck confit is a French dish made with the leg of the duck which preparation consists of salt curing the duck and then cooking it in its own fat, the meat is rubbed with salt, garlic, and sometimes herbs such as thyme, then covered and refrigerated for up to 36 hours (source: Wikipedia). The pasta they used is pretty much just blanched pasta with a bit of seasoning, note; a bit. Maybe so that it won't get over-seasoned, since the duck already has all the taste you need, the perfect combination! Plus, the photo might not show it cause of the angle but the duck is actually HUGE! Thumbs up for good portioning and good seasoning!

Creamy foie gras served on apple-filled pizza dough with orange confit, fresh mixed salad and raspberry sauce
For those who don't know; Foie Gras is a food product made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened. Don't worry, although it's basically a 'fatty liver', doesn't mean it's bad, since it consists of mainly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat, which helps to lower cholesterol but still too many of it will also add on to that calories. Anyway, confession time, first time reading the menu description, you would probably cringe because that's what I did. Interesting, but duck liver combined with apple filled pizza dough with orange confit? Well, all in all it was worth the try, cause I actually liked it! Would you dare to try?
PEAR TART ALA CARTE IDR 60K
Pear tart with caramel cheese cake, snow powder on top and dried cranberry
The presentation was a bit different compared to the picture shown on the menu but still acceptable. Love the crispy crust combined with a soft pear in the middle and it's also accompanied with sweet caramel cheese cake. Two desserts on one plate, PERFECT!
VANILLA PROFITEROLES IDR 55K
Choux puff served with three scoops of vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate sauce on top
Guessing that this is a new menu, since I didn't see this one last time I went to Bakerzin. There's also a chocolate one for this menu but I prefer the vanilla. Add chocolate sauce to the amazing vanilla ice cream, especially with the chocolate covered choux puff (yes, those round thingy covered in chocolate on top of the ice cream is the choux puff), HEAVEN!
BANANA PIZZA IDR 55K
Puff pastry with mascarpone, topped with caramelized banana and cinnamon ice cream
Fruit pizza has become popular nowadays and it's no wonder that this place has one too. Unlike the ones I had before, this one uses puff pastry instead of a normal dough which I think is better cause using a normal dough would be a bit too much for desserts. The crispy puff pastry goes perfectly with the caramelized banana and cinnamon always goes well with bananas. So no complaints here!
WARM CHOCOLATE CAKE
They also have the famous chocolate lava cake but disappointingly, it didn't melt the way it's supposed to even after they've exchanged it with a new one for us, guess the melted chocolate's burnt and became too thick. Garnish with strawberries and orange that adds a slight sourness, yum!
TWIST & SWIRL CARROT
I didn't get the chance to try this carrot cake because I was too full already but definitely looking forward to try it. Carrot cake is known to have soft and dense texture, may be eaten plain, but it is commonly either glazed or topped with white icing or cream cheese icing and walnuts, usually chopped. Decorated with carrot shaped marzipan or fondant is probably their signatures, cause almost every carrot cake I see has a tiny carrot decoration.
Also did not try this one, but I really wanted to.. Just looking at those dripping caramel made me drool. Fyi, this Banana Bunch and the Twist & Swirl Carrot is a limited autumn cakes and only available until October, so go get yours now before it's too late!
It's always a pleasure to be able to enjoy some good desserts. Well, as they say, there's always space for desserts!
