PANCIOUS NEW MENUS


Can't you believe that tomorrow is already December?? How time flies! Felt like just yesterday we were celebrating New Year and just another 31 days is left of this 2014! Okay, since tomorrow is gonna be a new month, today we're gonna share about something new as well! Though Pancious is not exactly a newcomer in this industry but they're opening a new branch at Central Park's Tribeca Park and serving new menu selections and we're so thankful for the chance to try it first hand!


'Marketplace' is what they're trying to picture in this new branch for their brand new image! Anyway, is hanging cables the new trend nowadays? Cause I've seen it like almost everywhere! Still, it does look good, so I approve of it! (Not that they need my approval anyways :p)


Since they're located at Tribeca with an outdoor equipped, the place was a bit too hot when I came, even their indoors! They said there was a problem with the mall's air con, the odds of being in a mall. Hoped that it's all fixed now, but looking at how crowded they were these past few days, I'm guessing it's fixed or it's not even a problem that'll affect their popularity!


Each menu that were gonna be prepared for us that day was displayed with these cute little jars! Big applause for the preparation!


EARL GREY MILK TEA
Love that the earl grey aroma really comes out and also those cubes made from the milk tea as well, so even after they melt, the taste wasn't weakened at all! Prove that they do care about taste! One bottle of this was enough for 4 glass, which is recommended for 2 pax, since one glass of this won't be enough, trust me!



CRAB & TOMATO SALAD IDR 72K
Was a bit of a disappointment, since the bad smell of the crab was too strong! Too bad, cause it could've been a delicious and refreshing salad with it's balsamic sauce and everything! Please do something with those crabs!


CRAB PASTA IDR 76K
The same problem with the salad occurred here as well! What is wrong with the crabs?! Amazing pasta, bad smell! They really need to fix their crab supplier or something!


BEEF & CARAMELIZED ONION IDR 62,5K
Guess it was okay, but I do admit it wasn't my favorite! I feel like the mushrooms kind of overpowered the beef and using it as a topping for a pancake and waffle was a bit too much for me! Might be because I was too full though!



WAGYU +5 RIBEYE STEAK IDR 325K
The BEST dish I had that day! Totally fell for those tender wagyu and strong flavor! Well, looking at the price, a quality like this was expected, though I do think it was kinda overpriced! With those price, they could actually achieve higher quality and taste, nevertheless, can't deny how good it is!


NEW YORK BURGER IDR 98K
After that amazing wagyu, this burger was kind of a let down as the patty was too dry and the buns was not the best buns I've had! You can even see how dry the patty was just by looking at the photo! Wonder what went wrong?


CREME BRULEE IDR 49,5K
The exact definition of how desserts saved the day!! All I could say about this was; PERFECTION! Made me kind of regret eating the main dishes 'till I was too full to have seconds for this little hero! Just imagine a mellow mille crepes topped with fluffy cream and glazed with crispy caramel! Drool!! You can also choose pancake or waffle for only IDR 39,5K for this menu!


Even though there might be a few problems that should be fixed here, you can't deny that Pancious is well-known to produce delightful dishes! Just because they kinda lack in their new menu, doesn't mean they can't fix it! I bet their popularity will continue to burst up after they perfected these menus!

SEORAE PIK


Wow, can't believe that it's almost December and Christmas air has already been roaming nowadays! Have you prepared for Christmas yet? Or are one of those who likes to just slowly enjoy the ever moving time and just deal with Christmas when it IS Christmas, like myself? Well, whatever you're doing right now, I hope you have a joyful time! Now, let's start with today's topic; Seorae Indonesia, a busy Korean diner at Pantai Indah Kapuk!


Seorae's interior is designed to have a street food dining experience kind of style, as you can see from the floor and wall design. As you know, in places like Korea or Japan, there're so many street foods that has attracted a lot of locals and even tourists! It's a fun way to enjoy yummy foods!


Seorae might a bit small but they're always buzzing with lots of customers even when there're already a lot of other Korean restaurants all over PIK! Like any must have items in a Korean restaurant, Seorae also has a few banchan to offer us and this is some of them;


PAJEON
Not the best pajeon I had but then again, I'm not that into pajeon in the first place!


Forgot what this is called but it has a really peculiar taste with peanut butter in a hard chewy dough!


At first glance, I thought this was eggs but it turned out to be potatoes!


GOGUMA MATTANG
Caramelized sweet potatoes, nothing can go wrong with it, though I admit the banchan here was not so great. No worries though, cause I came here for the meats!


SUNDUBU JIGAE IDR 54,8K
Spicy tofu stew mixed with tender pork, fresh vegetables, mushroom, seafood, and Omega-3 eggs.

Starting off with soup to ready your tongue for a culinary adventure and this is perfect for the job! I was especially attracted to the omega-3 eggs and it also has pork, also love the clam! Might be a bit spicy but because of how good it was, my spoon just can't stop! Definitely recommended if you're looking for soups!


TTEOKBOKKI IDR 34,8K
Who doesn't know what tteokbokki is? As the exploding popularity of Korean that has probably spread out to all over the world, everything about Korean has almost become a common knowledge! One of those things is this popular Korean rice cake snack! Too bad that this ones here was a bit too hard to chew, but that might be because we ate it when it's no longer hot after taking photos of it and the sauce was a bit leaning too much to the sweet side as well!


KIMCHI BENTO BOX IDR 54,8K
Our authentic Korean kimchi, fried egg, and crispy Nori seaweed over fried rice. Perfect for a quick meal on-the-go!

I've been wanting to try this one ever since I heard of it! The way of serving it was cute too, you close the lid and SHAKE! After a satisfying amount of shaking, open it and TA-DA! Enjoy this nicely and evenly mixed fried rice! And since it's served in a bento box, you can easily take it anywhere without worry! Taste-wise, it was a decent fried rice! For a kimchi fried rice, there wasn't enough kimchi in it though but I'm totally blown by the generous amount of seaweed so it's all good!


Shake, shake, shake! Done!


Finally what we're all waiting for……. MEAT!

SAMGYEOPSAL IDR 69,8K
Pork belly marinated with our secret sauce, then grilled. Juicy and tender.

We finally arrived at my favorite!! No matter it's Korean, Western, or whatever, pork belly will always be on my list of orders! And this one definitely did not disappoint! For me who has had many pork bellies from various restaurant, I can say that this is one of the best ones, super juicy and tender with bursting flavors on one bite! Yum! Spicy and sweet ones are also available choices of samgyeopsal here!




GALMAEGISAL IDR 84,8K
Our signature dish, pork skirt meal, marinated with our authentic secret Korean spices, then grilled to perfection.

Cooked alongside the Hangjeongsal that it didn't lose to, I totally agree that this is a signature dish! Such a tender and juicy meat nicely marinated with their secret spices that I'm dying to know, sooo sinfully delicious! There's also a spicy galmaegisal if you prefer spicy food and a King size which is enough for 3-4 people, though if it's this good, I might be able to finish it all my self! Lol!


DWAEJI BULGOGI IDR 54,8K
Our world-famous sliced pork, mixed with special sauce and served over steaming hot rice.

Bulgogi is probably a Korean meat that everyone's already familiar with even before Korean restaurants became popular, so bringing such a common meat to a restaurant means you need to step it up! Seorae did a pretty good job on that part, the sweet and savory of it was in perfect balance! Fyi, there are 2 ways that you can cook this, it's either cooking it until a bit brown and crispy or just a brief so that it still has a chewy and soft texture. Though it's delicious no matter how it's done!



HANGJEONGSAL IDR 89,8K
Pork neck, marinated with Korean spices, then grilled to crisp. Very soft, with just the right amount of juice.

Hangjeongsal is probably the best part of pork! Having perfect balance of meat and fat, the texture it has is really bouncy. These ones here were very well marinated and just melts in your mouth! Without realizing, the plate was already empty!




SPECIAL PAT BING SO IDR 24,8K
Korean's popular dessert which is shaved ice with red bean and other sweet topping. A nice dessert like this is always perfect for Jakarta's hot weather! Come to think of it, it's kinda similar to the shaved ice desserts we have here! Completed with a yummy red bean ice cream, a refreshing finish after all those meats, it was a nice way to end the day's culinary journey!



Korean restaurants might be overpopulated but I can say that Seorae is one of the best! Anyway, they also have another branch at Alam Sutera and over there, the menu selection is more complete with a lot more space as well! I'd suggest that one if you're going in a large group, cause the tables here at PIK are mostly for 4-8 people. Thank you Seorae for the great pork filled dinner!!

TEMPURA TENDON TENYA JAKARTA


It's tendon time! I'm so excited to introduce you to the newest tempura tendon franchise in town, Tenya! Brought to you here directly from Japan by AsiaCulinary Inc., it's the third branch in Indonesia, located at Mall Taman Anggrek's 4th floor. They're opening up really fast in several places at once! Now let's get started with the culinary experience!


I must admit that the space here isn't really big, you can see pretty much every side of the room by these little amount of pictures. Kinda looks more like an eatery or diner rather than a big restaurant. Compact yet comfy!


I always love this kind of showcase. Makes you drool no matter how many times you assure yourselves that these are artificial! Let's make the order A.S.A.P.! Itadakimasu!


CHICKEN & CHORIZO MAYO IDR 50K
Rice with two chicken fillet tempura, one chorizo sausage, sweet corn, and kyuri slices. Served with mayo on top.

If you noticed, their specialty here is tempura bowls, best known as tendon. Kinda reminds me of Donburi Ichiya! Only this one is more specialized on tempura dishes. Gotta admit that for providing deep fried dishes, they are totally killing it! It's not too oily and it tasted light while maintaining a good balance with the richness of their seasonings as well. This one is a great pick!




FISH TENDON IDR 60K
Rice bowl with three fishes tempura of dory, salmon, and carp. Served with sweet potato and long bean tempura

This is my personal favorite! Comes with pretty much my favorite ingredients! The taste of both the salmon and dory were perfect, as well as sweet potato and long beans. My only disappointment was that the carp didn't really meet my expectation as the ingredient was not at prime condition, thus tasted a bit too fishy.



ALL STAR TENDON IDR 65K
Rice bowl with prawn tempura, squid, salmon, crab stick, baby corn, and long beans.

Here comes the star of the show! They were right in saying that this is their specialty. What's a tempura bowl without prawn? You can feel the seafood goodness in one bowl as it contains fish, prawn, squid, and crab all in one! Yum!




SHRIMP KAKIAGE TEMPURA SOBA IDR 80K
Two kakiage tempura filled with prawn, onion chops, and green chili. Served with hot soba and condiments.

While I love their tempura, I must tell you that their soba was not that great. It's a little bit of a disappointment since I had such great expectation for this one!  The kakiage was as great as the other, but the overcooked, yet under-seasoned soba killed the show.

 Here's our whole meal for the night! Overall, it was a decent experience but I was also disappointed by their lack of waiters. While the place is full with customers, it is always important to still provide the best service possible, don't you guys think so? Nevertheless, it is a normal syndrome for new restaurants in Indonesia; I get that not everyone has their hotelier major! Hope they'll improve their service quality and the future. After all, congratulations for the opening, Tempura Tendon Tenya!
